UNHCR Wins $1 Million Award Utilizing Innovative Tekelek Technology

The recognition comes as a result of UNHCR’s successful implementation of innovative remote water monitoring solutions developed and manufactured by Tekelek.

We are delighted to congratulate UNHCR on this prestigious award. The project was selected as one of the five winners of the European Commission’s EIC Horizon Award for Affordable High-Tech for Humanitarian Assistance and won the Water, Sanitation, and Sanitation Awards.

A standout challenge in the operation of refugee camps is the supply of clean water. The method of utilizing fleets of water trucks that were not monitored was both inefficient and costly.

UNHCR embarked on a project to identify an alternative reliable, affordable solution capable of working in remote and difficult operational environments. Identifying Tekelek’s LoRaWAN Ultrasonic Monitor as the technology of choice, the LoRaWAN Ultrasonic Monitor is now successfully used in refugee and displacement camps in multiple locations allowing real-time monitoring of water provision.

The positive impact of implementing Tekelek’s LoRaWAN Ultrasonic Monitors is far-reaching. As deliveries of water to refugee and displacement sites are now reliably monitored, service delivery is improved, water shortages are reduced, and potential runouts are addressed before they happen.

Commenting on the award win, Oliver McCarthy, General Manager, Tekelek said:
